Hi all, My newly acquired mdx seems to have sensitive power steering- i notice it most when accelerating out into traffic while taking a sharp turn or while coming off a off ramp that has a steep turn- the suspension seems fine but under hard turning the steering wheel seems to "slip" and the tension in the wheel is not constant making it so i have to compensate on the fly- I just had it in the dealer and they went thru the entire steering system and found no issue. they found other issues which they say "could be contributing" like leaking strut and worn bushings- but i am skeptical- IT seems like the active steering system is unstable. The problem is worse at the extremes of the wheel being turned (far left or right) the wheel will actually jerk back and forth and the wheel will twitch when standing still. Any thoughts appreciated.

I notice that if you turn the steering wheel when the vehicle is at stand-still, it feels like the steering is sticky - the wheel jumps back and forth a little in your hand while you're turning it. If you rev the engine, the vibration subsides and it feels fine turning the wheel while the vehicle is moving. I asked the dealership about it and got the old "it's a normal characteristic of the vehicle" line. They said they've replaced racks and power steering pumps on othe MDXs and it hasn't solved the problem. Anybody here have similar issues?

First I want to say I love my new MDX. One day I decided to get a new MDX and turn in the old 2004. My 2004 had under 45K and it was so clean it sold in an hour of my trading it.

I hardly looked at the new 2009 MDX I was so sure I would like it. And Hey 5 years newer I "Knew" it would blow me away.

The next day I met the nice family that bought my 2004 as I was to pick up my 2009. They took it as is since it was so clean and protected with Simoniz.

It was not until driving the car around for a few hundred miles I discovered how much had NOT changed for the Better from my '04.

In all honesty I was pissed off that Acura was so far behind the times with regard to electronic technology and cool gadgets.

The electric mirrors still can't automatically fold in.
The electric seats still don't cool me in summer.

Many of the radio buttons are confusing by the way an LED is lit for off but is On for other functions in the same row! What is that about? And the radio is not loud enough for a Hard Rock Music Lover like myself. Set the noise boost to max and drive fast. The radio does get louder I found while having fun to boot.

As I inputted my iPhone into the car I noticed it was NOT compatible with the AcraLinc update messaging system. And when I spoke with Acura they could not point me to a phone that does actually connect to AcraLink. Also I found my MDX Sport was the "only" model that did not support iPhone linking direct into the radio because of the Entertainment system. No high tech here I just have a RCA standard phono plug set with a single composite video old style input.

One plus side notice, but in a way a negative point, the cassette player is gone! Negative you ask? Putting in an cassette adapter and plugging into my iPhone allowed me to boost the stored musics volume over twice as loud as the FM radio and DVD player on the 2004. This made the radio very loud with thundering bass.

Ralph Nader like thinking kept us from being able to automatically raise the windows by the remote when hitting the lock the second time for the beep.

And a last I concern is about the remote. Why is the Key in the REMOTE? Dumb Man. As with my 2004 I use the stand alone Key to start my car. But in 2009 why do I need a Key to start my mighty Steed? A fob in the pocket and a Dash mounted Button work fine on my Son's Lex.

I won't gripe about the fact that it took Acura until 2010 to install a 6 speed transmission while other cars will have 8 speeds. I give up. I am about to take a ride! The sun is out and my Gal says we need to find a cool place to eat. Elvis will be singing away on XM but thats my cross to bear. Acura is not responsible for that...

Its a 06 MDX. Is it normal that sometimes the RPM drops below normal operation RPM speed while in a stop and go drive? Ex: I would hit the gas to move a few feet then come to full stop but the RPM will dip to say 500 then back to say 700 and stay there while in gear but not moving. This also happens when I hit the gas a little to get moving then lift off and the RPM will dip then raise back to normal RPM for that speed. My concern is that when this happens in slow moving situations where gas is hit and let go all the time that this slight RPM dip before it stables out causes a slight forward lunge as it normals out.
Thanks,
