I wanted to get opinions on whether to go ahead and upgrade to the 2024 TLX Aspec from my 2018 TLX Aspec. I have 49k miles currently on the 18, but wanted to makes sure I still got some value out of the car. I have seen some of them selling now for 25k. I have seen alot of people complain about the Tranny in the 18s and also, with the rod bearing issue, not sure how long the engine will last even though the rod bearings were replaced with the recall.
Is it worth the upgrade? I would only want the 24 as I believe it's better overall than the 23s etc.. Plus I think the tech upgrades are very attractive.

2024 is much sportier looking as you likely already know so I say go for it if that is what you’d be happy doing!!
If you want it and can afford it comfortably then by all means get it, but don't figure it as a smart financial move by "getting some value" out of your old car. Any additional value you get by trading your old car sooner versus later will be lost many times over in depreciation with the new one. Not trying to dissuade you, just expressing that there are very few circumstances under which trading an old vehicle is the financially responsible thing to do, and even fewer circumstances under which buying a brand new vehicle is financially responsible! I average a new (used) vehicle every year, so I'm not preaching from a pedestal, but I'm fully aware that I'm wasting money while I'm doing it, and I'm trying to do better lol.
The '24 refresh is certainly mighty attractive, and I'd love to have the wireless CarPlay with Maps integration, faster processor, bigger screen, digital cluster, and additional sound deadening. But are those worth the extra $15-20k over getting a good condition '21 or '22 CPO with a better warranty? That's up to you. It's definitely not to me.
$2,500.00, I was lucky, in the Chicago area TLX's are hard to come by.
Apparently, they're hard to come by anywhere since pre-refresh models are sitting on lots. Acura has learned their lesson and given less emphasis on the sedans and bringing back more supply of the RDXs. I'm sure many of the critical chips are shared across these common platforms and better to give to cars that sell than those that don't!
I'm genuinely curious how the recent earthquake in Taiwan is going to impact continued supply of these chips not just for Acura, but across the industry!
I went ahead and updated over the weekend. Got a really great deal at Acura of Hunt Valley in Maryland. Car feels so much better than the 18 TLX Aspec. Just an overall premium sports sedan. Added tint yesterday. Car looks awesome.

Similar to you, I went from a 19 3.5 to a 21 A-Spec. As much as I liked my 19, it only trumps the 21+ in the area of fuel economy. Overall, this thing has been a blast to own......so much so that I just bought out my lease.

Beautiful car, the wheels are the best update imo. Wish my CPO 2021 had those rims.
DO NOT BUY AN ASPEC Save up and get a type s if you can't afford one right away. I had a 19 aspec 4 cyl and I got 33k for on 12/21 when I bought my 22 type s, I bought that aspec that same year in 21 and wasn't aware that a type s was gonna be release, but as soon as I test drove it for less than 5 min I busted a u turn and went straight to the dealer and bought it. It's a great car and turns heads everywhere. I have almost 35k miles on it and plan on keeping it for a few years since I bought Acura care 7/120k extended warranty. Mine is paid off and enjoy it every day. Not worth forkin out all that money for aspec when a type s is better in every day
The current TLX A-Spec vs. the 2019 you had are completely different cars. The Type-S is significantly more money than an A-Spec as well. Some people just don't need or want that extra performance.

I couldn't agree more! I originally went to the dealership with every intention of buying a 23' TLX Aspec. I drove one and liked it. However, after the test drive, there was a Type S that I parked next to. The wife encouraged me to drive it (her mistake) and immediately I knew I was going with that car. There is a night and day difference between the two trim levels, and I would HIGHLY recommend getting the Type S over the Aspec.
The Type S is just a whole different beast. I don't know if I will keep it long-term, but it does bring a smile to my face when I put the pedal to the floor!
If nothing else, make sure you AT LEAST drive a Type S to experience the difference between the two. Who knows, you might just prefer the Aspec to the Type S...
I debated it a couple times whether to go Aspec or Type S. Honestly, if they made the Type S in red, I would have probably been more enticed. But also, Aspec was great, yeah, I wish it had some more power or weigh 300
pounds less, but overall, it's very similar to the V6 in the previous model so I am happy with it. Also, price isn't that big of a difference, but I got quite a bit off of MSRP from the Aspec and also, was able to get a pretty good deal on the financing from Acura that only applies to Aspec and the Tech. Also, the higher power is awesome, but in day to day driving, it isn't really needed for me.

I agree with this as I am currently driving a 2024 TLX A-Spec AWD right now due to some unfortunate circumstances with my Type-S at the moment. However it is a nice place to be the A-Spec is still peppy the AWD is just as great as it is on my Type-S. Its a shame they discontinued red in the Type-S trim for 2024 that would be a nice upgrade for me years down the line. but alas. Congrats again and enjoy that digital gauge cluster and bigger screen, honestly I really will miss the wireless carplay when I go back to my Type-S. Might have to invest in that wireless dongle thing for my TLX

A tune could fix this problem really easily. But I don't know if it would play too well with your warranty, some dealers are super mod friendly though and are even licensed tune retailers.
